Simply Business // Greenhouse Effects

I've seriously been dedicated to makeup for about 2 years now. I've always fancied playing in it and loved how with a single application of color of liner I could alter my looks. Now that I'm beginning to fully embrace my calling, I'm slowly but surely on my way to where I wanna be in my business.

As my passion, even with it starting as a hobby, it grew into me wanting more and that desire to create on others soon came after. For me, it's a rush to create art using the face as a canvas, and the reward is the initial gasp or tears of joy a client sheds after they look at themselves in the mirror...

The short (kinda long) term goal: doing a partnership with a legitimate beauty company as a Creative Director! (think NARS, Revlon) Hopefully after retiring from the military and getting to a more established area will assist with that.
The long term goal: Blossoming Greenhouse Effects into a full-fledged corporation. Excited! I'm absolutely claiming great things with this and expect for me to fully invest in what God gave me to do!

I just had a very, very bleh of a week...so I did what I always do when feel unstimulated on a Friday night: Face paint! Ooh, & glitter, YES!!
My kids had a field day when I was on the sink taking pics. I have a feeling I started something terrible. LOL!

    Inspiration // Kevyn Aucoin

    This man changed my life.

He is absolutely responsible for the addiction that I possess with cosmetics. I've always dabbled in makeup. Never anything serious, but I always adored the way that applying a color or liner can simply transform you. One day while on YouTube, I had the honor of stumbling upon a video of this master in his element. I had to find out who this man, armed with just a fluffy brush and a smile, changed how a woman felt about herself, just before my eyes. I looked him up on Google and learned about how this man had single-handedly influenced a movement with his innovative concepts about how makeup really has no boundaries. He taught me about the basic applications and how to build in little ways. How really trusting your creativity can foster the makeup artist in you. Yeah, sounds cheesy, but from then on, knowing how this man created a legacy literally with his hands, lit the fire under me. He pressed me toward my desire to become just that, what I truly think my destiny is: to create art.

Even though Kevyn is no longer with us, his spirit and the numerous people he touched with his life will live on. Thank you for inspiring me with that. I know I've never met you, but I feel that I am close to you and see you every day through your many creations.
    Thank you.

    Face Forward: Buck Naked

I finally got my hands on the new Urban Decay Palette called Naked.

    *hyperventilates*

Basically, its a palette that boasts the best of all things neutral. Being a fan of UD, I already had a few of the colors in the palette, so I was a lil skeptical about buying it (aka ain't wanna waste mon-nay!). But with a lot of "word of mouth" tutorials from YouTubey and really wanting to see if the hype was well deserved, I just broke down and got it from Sephora. Lemme tell ya'll, it's GRATE!! Even though I own a different neutral palette already, this one has a few colors I don't have, plus the quality of Urban Decay! I love the versatility of the colors as well as the palette offering matte and shimmery shadows. Its really a nice and I can see myself traveling with it since the compact size is convenient.

And an added bonus, it comes with a mini bottle of Primer Potion and also 2 of its 24/7 liners Zero & Whiskey! Ya'll should get it!

Anywho, here is a look I did with the palette. A very simple eye. Enjoy!

OMG, you guys see my real hair! Thank God for Black hair dye!

      Face Forward: Skin Care

Many people love to be on the hunt for that perfect coverage. If they could find a makeup that could be lightweight and provide full coverage without looking like E.T., they would be in heaven. But my CS beauties, the first essential step to having flawless makeup is...you guessed it, good skin.

Just caking up makeup on your skin and not properly clearing pores and ensuring all makeup and dirt reside is off is a guaranteed bet for skin DISASTA!!!!! But have no fear, here are a few tips in getting yourself set up for a fool-proof skin regiment:

      Know your skin type:
This might sound funny, but I just recently found out that I have dry/combo skin as opposed to thinking my whole life I was oily! Moving to a new climate really brought out the worst in my skin and it was unmanageable. So I finally decided to cough up the funds to go to get a facial and see what they could recommend. It was worth every penny. (Roughly about $70) Also, they had great suggestions on what type of products to use to control the dry spots and tame my T-Zone. When I say my skin's in the BEST condition of my life, I'm so serious!

      So many choices!!!

      Trial and error:
I know with skin, doing that can be a bit intimidating. But think about it: you go through the same process with makeup, so why not with skin care?? You're gonna have to try out some products, find what works for what skin issue, and THEN find the best combination of those products to help your skin. For example, for my nighttime routine, I use Philosophy Purity cleaner with the Clarisonic Mia (I LOVE that thing!), then Bosica Toner, Dr. Murad's Acne Spot Treatment (for pimples) and finish it off with Fresh Soy Face Creme. I named bout 50-11 brands for just the BASIC night routine, but I had to go through and find the products that work best for me!

      Work with your budget:
So I know the next thing you're saying is, "Chile, I don't have them type of funds to be spending on all the brands and types of skin care stuff, what do I do?" I'm living limited myself, but if you go to great department stores like Sephora, Macy's or even your doctor/dermatologist,you can get samples of certain products for you to use to see if they're effective. My cabinet looks like I hustle skincare products cause I stay collecting the samples! I love them and I am not ashamed!! :)

Seems like a helleva lot huh? Well, investing in skincare is. It has to be a priority so that eventually you can have beautiful, flawless healthy skin. You can be confident and love the skin you're in! (Yeah I straight stole that line!)

What are you all's current skin issues/concerns/gripes???
