Top 5: Martiiinnn Movies

Because I've been secluded from the world of reality tv, new series airing and new Hollywood premieres, I keep myself entertained with the movies I have on my laptop's hard drive. 

In honor of the one man that never fails to give us good chucktastic cinemas:  good ole, Marty Mar! 

Oh how I love him!  Besides watching his hilarious series every morning (like I've never seen the episodes), I find myself watching a Martin movie at least once a week! 

And here are my Top 5 Martin Movies! (in no particular order)

 A Thin Line Between Love and Hate

As much as I disliked Martin's character, this movie is a classic... or a learning lesson depending on how you look at it!

Even though he was OVERLY protective in this movie, I really like when Martin play the parental roles!

Smh... Martin is a trip in this movie!!  His attitude towards that poor cop was horrible.... but, when I watched it the other night, I was grabbing my sides, crying laughing!!

Hajji Mart Shopping: Marc Jacobs Sunglasses

Yes, you read correctly, I said Hajji Mart Shopping! 

I figured while I'm out here in the "wonderful" desert, I'd find myself a little hobbie.. tee hee hee!  Visiting the local Hajji Marts once a week has become my thrill of the week!

It just so happens that, last week, I ran across theses little beauties:

.....and now I call them mine!

If you go into Nordstroms, these babies will run you "only" $98.  I know what you're thinking.. "the vintage shopper, paying that much for some sunglasses?"  Nope, not at all! 

The culture here is that you bargain for prices at the local markets, and is actually considered rude not to.

So, here's what I did:  first, researched the frames to make sure they were in season and "real", and obviously they were.  So, I went back to "my friend," as we say, and practiced my bargaining skills! 

In the end, I paid, just 20 dollars for these darling frames! 

As you see, I was super excited about my new glasses, and decided to model them in my dorm! 

Just for you, CS, just for you!  Lol, still in my uniform and all! 

Even though I can't wear them out here, I'll will definitely be rocking these gorgeous frames when I make my way back to the states!

Special Shoutout: The Anonymous Comment

Yes, we do special shout outs! 


Apparently, my last Playing Dress Up post, hit a soft spot.  I received an anonymous comment which stated: "WHAT KIND OF CHURCH DO YOU GO TO, THIS FIT IS TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE."

Disclaimer: Trust me, I'm not mad at all.  I just literally had these random thoughts from that one comment. (y'all should know that I have a bunch of randomness running through my head)  :~)


Here are my issues that came from YOUR comment:
1. The post had nothing to do with my church.  Next time, try sticking to the subject.
2. What kind of church do you go to?
3. So, did you like the outfit or not?  Lol.. Yes, I noticed you clicked Simply Bore, but was that toward my "church" or the outfit? Serious question.. I want to know.
5. How about next time we stick to constructive criticism instead of random put downs?
6. Maybe you should reconsider the church YOU attend, if any... just a suggestion.
7.  Can you please explain why this outfit is "totally inappropriate" for a church event, not a regular Sunday morning service.
8.  You brought up a completely different topic, but didn't even answer my photo shop question that I put in the post!!     
9.  If I was attending this Sweetheart's Ball at a club or something would you have liked the outfit then?
10.  Oh, and last but most definitely not least, the below picture is just for you!

Top 5: 90s TV Style Influences

Whether, you want to face the facts or not, your personal style has been influenced by some aspect of your life.  As much as I don't want to say it, we are all, in some shape or form, (the dreaded 4th grade word) a Copy Cat of someone else!  LOL!  My apologies, but it's true!  With that being said, this is my open confession of some of the infamous 90s TV characters that have influenced my personal style!

DENISE HUXTABLE

Must I even explain! She's obviously my fave, she got the number one spot, but okay fine! Denise was always edgy, and knew how to stand out! However, like many us may take hours to put outfits together, Denise just didn't seem to put too much effort into what she wore... she was just her! Without letting what anybody else's opinions of her style affect her.

LAURA WINSLOW

During the time when cross dressing was in, (I'm sure she may have wore some baggy jeans once or twice) Laura was always very girly to me and that is why she's on my list! When you just can't get your personality to come out through your outfit, being a girly-girl never fails! It always makes me feel better!

GINA WATERS

Now, you may say, why Gina??  Gi-Gi-Gina is on my list because she taught me how to be versatile.  We all know Gina was a business woman, which requires business suits.  But a suit wasn't always needed when it was time to chill with her honey, Martin or kick it her bestie, Pam.  Gina could rock sweats, jeans, dresses and the suits and still look cute!

LISA TURTLE

Anybody that can wear a leopard print dress all day to a bunch of boring, high school classes is okay in my eyes!  I hearts leopard in case you didn't know.  But Lisa to me was always very chic to me.  Matching outfits and accessories, that called out for some "I'm cute and I know it" attention!  Plus, with a last name like Turtle you have take the attention away from that! 

WHITLEY GILBERT

The ULTIMATE prissy, uppity, stuck up (but down to earth) girl!!  Whitley taught us that you can ALWAYS dress up!  Here is the lesson (take notes):  There does not have to be any type of special occasion for one to get dolled up!  However, if, in fact you need one, let the occasion be that you woke up to see the day!  That ought to be good enough!

Boredom With Photoshop!

Yes, I'm pretty bored right now, but I realized that haven't done a What I Wore post in a minute, but trust me, more will be coming on the regular!

Top 5 Celebrity Closets I want to RAAAIIDDD!!!

(in no particular order, but.. um, yeah, that #1 spot is definitely taken!)

Whether they be fictional characters or real people.. if, I can fit their clothes or not.. I know its something in these ladies' closets I can wear dammit!

1-Carrie Bradshaw - Must I even explain! After a long week of watching Sex and the City 2, over and over, I've decided I need Patricia Fields in my life! Oh, how I hearts Mrs. Preston and her style!! The picture you see is on my computer as my desktop! Usually, before I go out and want to make a "BAM" kinda outfit, I'll skim through the pages of the SATC book for a lil inspiration!




2- Solange - Again.. must I even explain my open girl crush! *blushing* Gosh... I chose a "toned" down picture of Solo, but this girl can do no wrong in my eyes! Let's see, I'll take that scarf, that necklace.. some of your over sized shirts, and jackets.. purses.. oop, what size shoe do you wear, hun?




3. Chrisette Michelle - Now, I know I can fit some of her clothes, doggone it! Her style is so simple and classy to me, yet she knows how to stand out! I love how she always adds a lil umph to her outfits!



4. Nicki Minaj - *my chick bad* Besides her usual (or unusual) costume wear, you gotta give it to her, she always rocks a bad pair of shoes! And I'm pretty sure with that ass, we can share some jeans!






5. Erykah Badu - I would love to go through her closet for some bad accessories! I'm talking hats, sunglasses, earrings, bracelets, oh the bracelets galore, rings, and necklaces!! Maybe if I'm lucky, I can find some over sized jackets too!!

What's in Your...

Make-Up Bag?

OMG! So, here's the background story of this super cute, hot pink make-up bag:

For the longest, I've just been throwin my make-up in my purses, like, oh well, whatevs, *in my Fabolous voice* "just throw it in the bag" type of thing! Well, I finally got fed up with myself after one of my brand new Cover Girl pallets, exploded in my purse!! Grrr...

This past weekend, out at Target, my husband pointed it out to me and guess what? It was only 97 cents! Whoop-whoop! Can you say deal? Since then, my work purse and I have been loving it!

Here's what I carried (and usually carry) in my Make-Up bag:

1. MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation (in NW 45) with brush for touch-ups here and there through out the day, if need be.

2. A hot pink, heart shaped mirror from Express. I bought my Liv one in black, she despises "pank" in her words!

3. Smokey Noir Eyeshadow Pallet from RIMMEL (which I wore that day.. I was sexy!)

(But, I'm mad that scarf line is on my forehead! And the humidity in TX does a number on my hair! Ugh!)

4. RIMMEL Glam Eyes: Lash Flirt Mascara and Eye liner. I usually use Cover Girl LashBlast, but this makes my lashes really pop!

5. Express Lemon Lush Lip Gloss. Taste good and keeps lips moist!

Here we have Trey Songz and T.I. attending the launch party of Trey's, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, the exclusive deluxe version of the new album. The event was hosted by Target in, of course, the ATL, shaawty!

Now, Let's discuss:

1. Why is Target hosting this party? They know good and damn well Trey Songz, T.I., or anybody else that came to this event will not be purchasing anything from there! Don't you hate when celebs get endorsements and you know they're not using the product. UGH!

2. Shouldn't T.I. be locked up or on his probation.. I don't get it, I know we all heard about him and wifey, Tiny, getting pulled over smelling like a phatty, so why is he out and about?!

3. Tremaine Aldon Neverson. SMH. 'Nuff said. Well, you know what I will say, that boy looks some kinda good in a fitted suit.

4. I want to go to Target now, like right now, and raid the clearance and sale racks. *looks at clock to see if I can get there before they close*

5. Where is T.I.'s wedding ring? Ooohhh, yeeeaaah.. on his NECKLACE! SMH... I'm sorry, I'm usually on the King's side, but after that whole "up in smoke" situation, I'm just a tad bit upset with him. We'll be cool in a couple of days...

6. However, that is a bad chain and watch Tip has on... LOL, lemme stop, lemme stop!
